Record in lightweight vehicle design: Fennek, Panther, Scorpion
For a very special project in the vehicle construction, Fennek, Panther and Scorpion needed a vehicle that used only the equivalent of 1 liter of gasoline to drive 1706 kilometers. Over the course of time, that distance increased to 7,500 km and recently may have increased to approximately 12,000 km. This means one liter of gas needs to take them 12,000 km, or only 0.0586 to 0.0083 liters per 100 kilometers!
And that’s on the race track, not on the testing stand. You read all those zeros right, we’re not kidding!
The vehicles shown in the pictures and their successor vehicles have all been running with k-tec-sponsored glazing for many years. One can only marvel at the accomplishments of the young ladies and gentlemen of Graz University of Technology and the HTL Salzburg, and congratulate them on such a success!
Our company is thrilled to have so many opportunities for discovery and excitement, and to work with colleagues of such vision and skill! And we’d like to add one more thing. This extremely low fuel consumption wouldn’t be possible without the use of synthetic materials (too often described simply as plastic)! Thus, we kindly ask you to read more about our efforts on our ENVIRONMENT page.
